In March 2021 I was listening to the Invisible Women audiobook by Caroline Criado Perez, when the idea for Equal Partners first took shape. I was really struck by the statistics in the book, how on average women did a much higher proportion of the household chores, and how inequality in the home may contribute to inequality at work. As I was using a sports activity tracking watch I wondered if household chores could be tracked and allocated using an app. Amongst my friends, tracking activity is quite popular, and I love a list. I also saw the benefit of reminding my son to put out the recycling.
